The Iconic Blood Pheasant

The evolution of birds dates back to the period of Jurassic,

Innate to an Archaeopteryx - the first lived Ave in classic.

Falls in Phasianinae and in Ithaginis as one and the only one,

Blood Pheasant was known as early as eighteen twenty one.

In the Himalayas in a virgin scrubs of Bhutan’s pure jewel,

The modern Iconic Himalayan Blood Pheasants thrive so well.

Named for its plumage with blood like streaks on the males,

Niches in subalpine and conifer forest with their dull females.

The specialty as a creature – flight, shapes, colors and call,

Drives me wild as bird lover right from fast morn to the fall.

I keen-sighted him and others with my pair in a blissful nature,

A moment freshly lingers that aids my mind in constant nurture.

His beauty - the celebrity, an Icon, the Symbol put me to mute,

Crafted in my art, dedicated as a token of gratitude and tribute.

To the beauty alike, an apple of nation, a Bhutan’s iconic Queen,

Azhi Jetsuen Pema Wangchuck, The World’s youngest Queen.
